Intech Engineers are a multi-disciplined engineering firm that provides engineering, procurement, construction and asset management services to mining companies in Australia and around the world.
- Intech Engineers had carved a niche as a nimble and value driven engineering solutions provider. This led to a perfect storm of multiple project opportunities which if successful would stretch their internal resources.
- The challenge was to develop a talent pipeline across the civil and mechanical disciplines with a focus on engineers under 10 years experience.
This strategy requires a real shift from reactive to proactive recruiting. Your mindset should switch from recruiting to fill an open position to thinking about who your company will want and should hire in the future. Talent pipelining isn’t a short term strategy and takes time to develop and nurture, but in the long term the benefits are worth the investment.
Talent Blueprint carried out a detailed talent mapping and profiling exercise with the stakeholders at Intech to identify the next generation of talent should the current opportunities, leads and tenders develop. Through a combination of an active “expression of interest” advertising campaign and direct marketing (on-line/via phone) via our established talent community we identified and engaged with a talented group of young engineers either still employed or recently let go in the downturn by the larger engineering firms.
We generated over 160 expressions of interest across both the Civil and mechanical disciplines. We shortlisted 10 and invited 4 potentials to come into the office and meet the key stake holders within the business. Whether Intech win all the intended projects or not, the legwork is completed and relationships are built for the future which drastically reduces the time to fill.
